The Union and the Company exchanged ideas and proposals and engaged in extensive conversations that detailed each party’s perspective on how to achieve agreement regarding IAM members’ concerns.
While some progress was made, the Company has not yet committed to fully solve the serious problems that IAM members are experiencing on the job. We reiterated to the Company that these problems must be addressed satisfactorily in order to move to the next step of these negotiations and that IAM members will not move backward from current contractual language in this process.
We also reiterated to the Company that IAM members at United deserve the “industry-leading” contracts that the airline’s executive leadership claimed they would deliver to IAM members.
The Company thus far has fallen well short of that commitment.
We remain committed to this process and will continue expedited, limited issue talks the week of January 31st in Washington D.C..
