Before the IAM agreed to open our CBAs early, we demanded that United address our concerns regarding outsourcing. The Company agreed, as a condition for the IAM to enter early expedited negotiations, not to outsource any work currently performed by IAM members at United Airlines, including the work associated with the United Express operation. This is unprecedented job protection as it protects the work of nearly 30,000 employees at United.
We now have the unique opportunity to enter negotiations early and achieve the industry-leading contracts at United Airlines that IAM members deserve. By agreeing to open our contracts early, we don’t have to wait to raise our wage rates, enhance already greatly improved job security or upgrade our benefits and working conditions. The time is now to get what we deserve.
To do this effectively, we all need to participate in the collective bargaining process.
