Do this if you are hurt on the job
Step One - Seek Medical HelpImmediately seek medical attention unless your injury is minor. Do not report symptoms of a heart attack or stroke to your supervisor before you seek medical treatment. Go immediately to the clinic or ER, and report your outage as soon as you can.
You are required to report your injury to the company as soon as you can safely do so, but this should not delay you from seeking medical help if it is needed. |
Step Two - Report Your InjuryYou will need to report your injury to the company, and to the Worker's Compensation System. Report the injury as soon as it is safe to do so.
To notify the company, you may contact your supervisor, HUB manager or the resource office. If you notify the health care facility, clinic or hospital that you were injured at work, they should have the Worker's Comp forms on hand for you to fill out. |
Step Three - Follow UpIf your injury was minor, you will be returned to work, and you will not need to take any further action. If you need more time to recover, you will be given a "Transitional Duty" assignment by United.
The Transitional Duty office will guide you through the return to work process. Follow their instructions, and keep all your doctor visits and transitional duty appointments. Complete the "Injury Reporting and Tracking" form so that Local 811 can track injury trends at IAH. |
